The LLJBC U18 team played against a LL senior development team on 9 Nov. The game provided an opportunity for our U18s and more experienced U16s to play against more mature players, and get a taste for the next level up in their playing career.

The Juniors were missing 3 players which meant they were starting on the back foot but it was an opportunity for less experienced players to get more court-time. The match started with a very competitive first 2 quarters with only 5 points separating the teams at halftime. James Carter was a particular stand-out player, leading the tempo on the court. The third quarter was a different story, as the Juniors ran more players from the bench the Seniors moved into another gear. Using a zone defense unfamiliar to the Junior team, they built momentum, restricting the U18s to just 2 points as they pulled away with 20+ themselves to put significant daylight between the teams. The last quarter was more balanced but there was no coming back and the Seniors took away a comfortable win.

The game was a real success with a lot learnt by players and coaches alike. The intent is to turn this into a regular fixture to assist the development of all players and establish a pathway between the Junior and Senior teams which will benefit basketball in the Lincoln area.
